Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) provides the identity and the core administrative structure for Big Five, which operates under grants and contracts which come from a variety of federal and state agencies. The CSBG funding leverages an annual budget of approximately 8.5 million dollars.

During the year, Big Five provides directly or sponsors the provision of services and/or information and referral to other services and assistance to over 20,000 low-income persons and families in rural southeast Oklahoma. Services and assistance provided by Big Five directly include: training for employment; remedial education; GED; Head Start including medical, dental and mental health services; habilitation training services to mentally retarded/developmentally disabled citizens; financial counseling; income tax reporting, affordable housing; housing weatherization; owner-occupied housing rehabilitation; housing counseling; homeless prevention; emergency food and clothing; emergency shelter; ; food vouchers; adult literacy training; garden seed; transportation to health care and shopping; Christmas baskets; senior volunteer services; and, information and referral.

Big Five maintains strong linkages with other local service providers such as: the Oklahoma Department of Human Services; child care providers; church and civic organizations; emergency shelters; youth shelters; sheltered workshops; schools, public and private; and other training institutions.
